Golden Gate Bridge is a top attraction! You can't travel to San Fransisco (SF) without walking on the "golden" bridge. When I was there, we took a bus to the other side of the bridge, and then we walked on our way back, which took us approximately 45-50 minutes.

The bridge is really beautiful from a long distance. I got to experience looking at the bridge from the top of a hill, and I took some amazing pictures! This bridge is a very good example of Art Deco style, and it's a symbol of the city. It is surrounded by fog most of the time, and its red colour looks magnificent - I just had to set some time for photographing and admiring it.

Some interesting facts:
* The 'Golden Gate' was first named 'Chrysopylae', meaning 'golden gate', by Captain John C.Fremont in 1946. The name applied to the entrance to San Fransisco Bay, when he gazed at the narrow strait that separated the Bay from the Pacific Ocean, and said "it's a golden gate to trade with the Orient" (Orient is the definition of the countries in Asia, especially East Asia).
* The Golden Gate Bridge was the longest span in the world from it's completion in 1937 until the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in New York was built in 1964.
* The total length is 2.737 meters
* Only 11 workers died during construction, a new safety record for the time. One of the bridge's safety innovations was a net suspended under the floor, which saved the lives of 19 men.
* The colour orange (the famous International Orangecolour) was selected by the Architect Irving Morrow, because it blends with the bridge's setting - meaning that on a clear day, the colour of the bridge is the complementary colour of the background, the blue sky. (Complementary colours are those exactly opposite of the colour wheel developed by Newton).
* The bridge has been closed three times bc of weather conditions, it was also closed during visits by President Franklin D.Roosevelt and French President Charles DeGaulle, as well as on its bridge's 50th birthday.
Handy tips:
* Be prepared for a cold weather; you should be wearing a windproof jacket, bc it's very windy up there
* Allow 2-2.5 hours to explore this bridge. It took us nearly an hour to walk over to the other side of the bridge
