Holmenkollen - the worlds only steel ski jump

Finishing the first day in Oslo with lots of walking and windy weather that made us tired, we started our second day in sunny Oslo with a great view from Holmenkollen.

Holmenkollen is a ski jumping area up in the mountains, about 30 minutes away with train from centre Oslo. Maddie and me went there in the early morning.

Holmenkollen ski jump is the only steel ski jump in the world, and it has permanent wind protection as an integrated part of the inrun construction.

The new hill was officially opened on 3rd of March 2010.

Some fun facts about Holmenkollen ski jump:

> The totalt length is 96.95m long

> The steepest point is 36m

> The height of takeoff is 3m

> There are around 250 steps to the top

> Holmenkollen ski jump is situated approximately 425m above the sea level

> A total of 1.000 tons of steel was used in the whole construction
